Jan 9th 2026

Cherry cobbler is a classic American dessert featuring a sweet-tart cherry filling topped with a biscuit-like batter that bakes into a golden, cake-like crust. It's often served warm with a scoop of ice cream for a comforting treat.

  • Prep Time: 15–45 minutes

  • Cook Time: 40–60 minutes

  • Servings: 6–9

  • Temperature: 350°F (177°C)

Ingredients:

  • Cherry De-Lite Cherry Pie Fill

  • Pure vanilla extract: 1 teaspoon (5ml)

  • Almond extract: 1/4 teaspoon

  • Unsalted butter: 6 tablespoons (85g), cut into pieces

  • All-purpose flour: 1 cup (125g)

  • Baking powder: 2 teaspoons (8g)

  • Salt: 1/4 teaspoon

  • Whole milk: 3/4 cup (180ml)

  • Ground cinnamon: Generously sprinkled on top

Equipment needed:

  • 9x13-inch baking dish or 2.5-quart baking dish

  • Medium mixing bowl

  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven rack

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Place the butter in a 9x13-inch baking dish and set it on the oven rack to melt while the oven preheats.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk just until combined to form a smooth batter.

  3. Remove the dish from the oven once the butter has melted. Pour 1/2 of the batter over the melted butter and smooth it into an even layer.

  4. Spoon the Cherry De-Lite Cherry Pie Fill over the batter, ensuring it’s evenly distributed.

  5. Dollup spoon fulls of the remaining batter over the top of the pie fill.
  6. Sprinkle cinnamon generously over the top of the cobbler.

  7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with just a few moist crumbs.

  8. Let the cobbler cool for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow the filling to set.
