These cherry chocolate chip cookies are the perfect blend of tart and sweet. Cherries and chocolate go so well together, and when combined in a cookie they are irresistible! Especially when incorporated with the buttery flavor of a crisp cookie.
1 cup butter (2 sticks), softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups all purpose flour
1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips
1 1/2 cups dried Cherry De-Lite cherries
1.Beat together butter and both types of sugar in a large bowl with a stand or hand mixer until it is creamy.
2.Blend in the eggs one at a time. Add the vanilla.
3.Add baking soda and salt to hot water and stir until dissolved. Add baking soda to batter and blend well.
4.Next, mix in one cup of flour at a time until well blended. Then, fold in the dried Montmorency cherries and the chocolate chips.
5.Scoop the cherry chocolate chip cookie dough using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon.
6.Place 12 cookie dough scoops onto a parchment lined baking about two inches apart and bake at 350 degrees for 10-13 minutes.
7.Let the cherry chocolate chip cookies cool for 10 minutes, and then enjoy!
8.Makes 4 dozen cherry chocolate chip cookies.
