What is Chutney?
American and European-style chutneys are usually fruit, vinegar, and sugar cooked down to a reduction, with added flavorings. Western-style chutneys originated from Anglo-Indians at the time of the British Raj, recreated Indian chutneys using English orchard fruits—sour cooking apples and cherries, for example. This was a way to use fall fruit and preserving techniques similar to sweet fruit jams and jellies.
As with other cherry products, an occasional pit may be found.

The Chutney is great on everything!! We love it.
Bought some of this a couple weeks back when we were visiting Door County and the jar (and what was left of its contents) came home in the cooler. This is delicious and nutritious too. It is low in added sugar and that alone is a big plus and it's simply delicious on lots of food items from bagels to garnish on a fish fillet. I ordered some more online and got them in a few short days, so I must heartily recommend this to everyone., it won't last long once you open it...and only because it is gone before you know it!
I wasn't sure how the chutney would taste but since I liked the preserves so much I decided to try it. It did not disappoint. The chutney is very good!
I first came across this chutney at a Fish Creek restaurant where they served it on a turkey sandwich with cream Cheese. So I bought a jar while in Door County a few weeks ago. And my wife and kids loved it! And we used up the whole jar very quickly. Since we live in another state and won’t be back up north for sometime, I was very happy to discover I could order online. The chutney adds a bit of sweetness and a hint of tartness without being overly spicy. Give it a try!
We always buy several jars of Cherry De-Lite Chutney on our annual visits to Door County. Due to COVID we were unable to make the trip in 2020. I'm addicted to this wonderful condiment so ordered it directly from Country Ovens. Best ever accompaniment to roast pork. Can't get enough!
